The Hope House
of Cocke County
An Update From Our Team:
Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Supporters:
We regret to inform you that, due to difficulty in maintaining funding and a shortage of available volunteers, we will be adjusting our food distribution schedule. Beginning this Saturday, 10/4, distributions will take place only on the first Saturday of each month, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
We have seen the number of individuals and families in need continue to grow, but with limited resources we have to make difficult choices.
Moving forward, we are asking that priority be given to our unhoused neighbors who do not have the ability to store or prepare food at home. This allows us to focus on serving those with the fewest options available.
To help us serve everyone fairly, we will also begin a simple check-in procedure. Each client will be asked to show ID and sign in on a sheet that our volunteers will complete. Accommodations will be made for those who do not have ID. This process helps us keep accurate records and ensure food is shared equitably.
For those needing additional assistance, we encourage you to also reach out to other local resources, such as the Bread Basket (Thursdays, 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.) and Sunset Gap (Thursdays, 9:00–11:45 a.m.). We will also continue to support the NGS Family Resource Center, which was formed in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
We remain so grateful for the community’s support after Hurricane Helene. Even as our client base grew, donations received during that time sustained our pantry for a full year. That generosity made a tremendous difference, and we cannot thank you enough.
We appreciate your understanding, patience, and compassion as we continue to serve in the best way we can.
About Us
Did you know:

There are over 200 homeless people in Cocke County.

The cost of living is going up, housing costs are rising,
and wages are stagnant.

What does this mean for our community?

It means people are sleeping in cars, moving from couch to couch,
sleeping in hotels, or sleeping outside.
These are people just like us.
People who are veterans, families, children, our former neighbors, classmates, and students.
We will work toward reducing the stigma associated with homelessness,
mental illness, and substance use disorders by treating those who walk through our doors with kindness and compassion.

At The Hope House of Cocke County, we seek to help alleviate some of the struggles of
homelessness in our community and to assist with food, toiletries, community resources,
and other needs that are client-dependent.

It's time to stop turning a blind eye to the suffering.
Our mission is to provide hope to the homeless, under-housed,
and the food-insecure residents of Cocke County.

We are working towards our goal of providing the necessary
services in our community.
Would you lend a hand?
